Breathe Deep, Beautiful Things Are Growing

I need to tell you about what we are experiencing here in our gardens.

Every morning I take a little trip around my flower gardens and plants. What is here today? What will I see after our night’s slumber?

The morning air is so beautiful. It still holds the cool splashes of spring and everything is so green, so green! After every winter it feels like I can not get enough green. To just stare at the trees, the grass, the sprouts, fills up a long winter hunger that was in my soul.

We call off school at the beginning of May because the children have worked so hard all winter and because who can focus while the world awakens?

Every day I inspect my dahlia tubers lovingly buried in pots and soil. My heart quivers a little as it has been so long since I tucked them in and they are so slow to show any life. Maybe it is all for nothing! But no, it is slow, it almost hidden, but they do start to sprout. There is nothing like the joy of seeing them send up their tiny little shoots and to see life.

The morning walks around our place bring us so much pleasure, little gifts wrapped up for us from God. Cool air. Green leaves, Flower sprouts. If only this part of the day could stay! But it is good to move on and to join the world because if we do, the same, but different, gifts will be waiting for us again tomorrow in the garden.
